Delicate hammered earrings that thread through the earlobe, the wire on the back of the ear climber runs parallel to the front, to ensure that it fits closely against the ear. It is designed to be worn without an earring back as the wire is snug against the back of the lobe as the earring 'climbs' up the ear.
