Being Peace
First published in the United States more than thirty years ago, Being Peace was one of Thich Nhat Hanh’s earliest books to reach American readers. Originally written as both a guide for peace activists and a reflection on the peace movement of its time, it quickly became a sensation—and remains an indispensable companion on the spiritual path today.
Translated into more than thirty languages and with over half a million copies sold in the U.S. alone, Being Peace is often described as like drinking a cool glass of water on a hot day. Many of Thich Nhat Hanh’s most enduring teachings appear here in his clear, steady style, including one of his most-quoted insights:
"Life is filled with suffering, but it is also filled with many wonders, like the blue sky, the sunshine, and the eyes of a baby. To suffer is not enough."
